  • All About Herbs: Why Plants Are Considered Nature’s Medicine

  • Dahlias 101

    February 4th, 2026 | 11am - 1pm | Hosted by the Lifelong Learning Center of Chesterfield

    This course will introduce students to the art of growing organic dahlias from tuber to bloom. Students will learn soil preparation, planting techniques, feeding schedules, harvesting for long vase life, and how to lift, divide, and store tubers for continued growth. The course will include a live demonstration and practical tips for gardeners of all experience levels. Students are encouraged to bring paper and a pencil to take notes!

    Dive into the most sustainable seed-starting practices that will make your garden eco-friendly, pest-resistant, and bursting with nutrient-dense produce! We’ll explore everything from innovative soil blocking techniques to regenerative and organic tips and tricks, along with expert advice on seed sourcing and much more. You’ll even walk away with a starter kit that includes seeds, pre-made soil, and essential amendments to kick off the growing season in style!   • Microgreens 101

    February 10, 2026 | 11am - 1pm | Hosted by the Lifelong Learning Center of Chesterfield

    This course will teach students how to grow fresh, nutrient‑dense microgreens at home. Students will learn a variety of topics and skills, including seed selection, growing mediums, lighting, watering, harvest timing, and how to prevent common issues such as mold or legginess. The course will highlight the best ways to maximize flavor, nutrition, and yield for personal use or market sales. Students are encouraged to bring paper and a pencil to take notes!

  • Ecological Gardening 101

    This course will explore how to create resilient gardens that work with nature. Students will learn design strategies that support pollinators, beneficial insects, birds, and soil life while producing abundant plantings. The course will cover companion planting, habitat layering, soil stewardship, water‑wise practices, and methods to encourage natural balance for long‑term sustainability.   • Mushrooms 101

    This course will examine the role of fungi in human wellness and ecological balance. Students will learn about the healing properties of mushrooms such as Lion’s Mane, Reishi, and Turkey Tail, including their effects on brain health, immunity, and stress resilience. The course will also highlight fungi’s role in soil building, nutrient cycling, and plant communication. Students are encouraged to bring paper and a pencil to take notes!

In this class, former flower farmer Conner Parrish with Bloomistry will show you how to design and grow your very own cutting garden at home. You’ll gain practical skills, insider tips from a professional grower, and take home a starter kit packed with everything you need to begin your journey to homegrown blooms and endless bouquets.

  • Locally-Grown Spring Dried Flower Wreaths

    March 15, 2026 | 1 - 2:30pm | Hosted by Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens

    Create a one-of-a-kind spring dried flower wreath to showcase your creativity and support for a local flower farm! Designer Conner Parrish of Bloomistry will guide you in using dried flower material from the farm to create a base wreath on a grapevine form. You’ll add a variety of distinct spring dried flowers harvested from the farm and various seasonal decorations.

  • Blooming Success: How to Tend and Harvest a Cutting Garden

    April 11, 2026 | 10am - 12pm | Hosted by Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens

    Learn how to care for a flourishing cutting garden from seedling to vase. Former flower farmer Conner Parrish will teach proven techniques for watering, fertilizing, staking, and pruning to keep your flowers blooming all season. Discover the best methods for harvesting blooms to achieve longer vase life and continuous flowering. You’ll also practice proper cutting techniques, bouquet conditioning, and simple garden care routines. Each participant will leave with practical skills, fresh inspiration, and a take-home kit to help you grow and enjoy your own homegrown bouquets.

  • Pressed Flower Floating Frames

    April 17, 2026 | 10am - 12pm | Hosted by Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens

    Cultivate creativity and appreciation for the history of the ancient pressed-flower art form with instructor Conner Parrish of Bloomistry, a local farm in Ashland. After diving into the history of pressed flower art, we’ll create a stunning pressed flower glass floating frame using a 5×7 black glass-on-glass floating frame and real pressed flowers from the farm. The floating frame you design and take home with you will be totally unique, as no two frames are ever alike!

  • Spring Dried Flower Wreath Workshop

    April 27, 2026 | 1pm - 3pm | Hosted by University of Richmond Osher Program

    Unleash your creativity and craft a one-of-a-kind dried flower wreath that adds a charming seasonal flair to your spring decor! Join designer Conner Parrish from Bloomistry Garden Company for an inspiring workshop where you'll use exquisite dried materials sourced directly from the farm. You’ll add a variety of distinct flowers and various seasonal decorations! Fees are non-refundable unless we are able to fill your slot.
